The Honeymoon Is Over

And so, just like that, we're home.

Almost.

Well not really 'just like that'. So first, I need to catch you up on the past two weeks - which were the last two weeks of our honeymoon! I'm going to do that much in the same manner we ran the last leg of our journey - briefly but succinctly.

After Matt finally finished harvesting we headed to Perth - I was jubilant to say the least! Lovely stretches on the lawn at beautiful Kings Park, down to Fremantle for a wild night in a storm, then yummy breakfast out to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Onto the Fremantle prison. Let me just preface by saying this was one of the highlights of the trip Matt was looking forward to. Seriously, the boy loves prisons, museums, lighthouses, lookout's and the like. He did all three possible tours you could in a day, including the tunnels beneath the prison. Let's just say he was a happy boy by the end of the day. Oh the love of locked up convicts??!

So we toured prisons and the Cape Naturaliste lighthouse. We admired beautiful south west coastline...

We (ok Matt) climbed dangerously tall trees with no safety measures...

We walked amongst the treetops and the giants...

We took in some more coastline and beautiful Esperance beaches...

And then we started the Nullabor. And drove...

And drove...

We camped at South Australia's answer to Uluru or Wave Rock, and were suitably impressed...

We ooh-ed and aah-ed over the stunning South Australian cropping country vista's and stone buildings...

And then we revelled in the last night of our honeymoon. The last camp, the last! On the banks of the Murray near Morgan, South Australia...

Tonight we are at our friend's in the Mallee, and it was quite the homecoming to our home away from home! (Well, we still don't really have a home). There were party poppers and streamers and balloons and champagne. And driving into Boort I had tears (more tears!) as I realised this was the end of the road, the last of our journey together. From now on it won't be just us, there will be friends and family, and that's great, but the honeymoon is definitely over. Our journey is complete.

Like I've said before, so much opportunity and more adventure awaits us in the coming months, but for now we're signing off to enjoy our homecoming tomorrow in Gippsland with our family...
